Chi Square Economics is currently partnered with a prominent organization that is at the forefront of representing regulated investment funds globally. Its key mission is to fortify the foundation of the asset management industry for the long-term benefit of individual investors.

They are seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Senior Director, specializing in financial analytics. In this role, you will lead their Industry and Financial Analysis (IFA) economic program, ensuring that research aligns with the firms’ regulatory, legislative, and communication objectives. Collaborating with the Chief Economist and Deputy Chief Economist, in this role you will contribute to the formulation of policy positions and strategies while maintaining a presence in regulatory, policy, research, and media communities

Key Responsibilities

  • Help develop, maintain, and work with large databases related to mutual funds, ETFs, and the financial sector
  • Identify emerging industry and financial market issues and formulate research to address them
  • Manage and lead a team of seven individuals of senior economists, economists, and research associates
  • Contribute to research publications, comment letters, academic research, and blogs.
  • Monitor ongoing industry and financial market developments, preparing analytical documents for senior staff
  • Develop and maintain contacts within the asset management business, financial community, regulators, academics, and media
  • Review data reports before release and prepare critiques of relevant economic research
  • Develop and deliver presentations to internal staff, committees, member firms, and at public conferences
  • Attend and participate in conferences on topics relevant to the firm

Key Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in economics with a focus on macroeconomics and/or finance
  • Substantial professional experience in analyzing economic, financial, and policy issues relevant to the fund industry. Knowledge of financial institutions and markets, with international economics and international finance knowledge being advantageous
  • Strong knowledge of financial economics, econometrics, forecasting techniques, and economic modeling
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior analytical skills with the ability to translate them into policy research and communicate complex issues effectively
  • Knowledge of collecting, disseminating, and analyzing economic data. An established record of empirical research is a plus
  • Proven experience in managing people and projects, and ability to collaborate with outside contractors and academic economists
