An exciting opportunity has arisen within a prominent organisation in London, which is looking to fill a newly created position of Chief Economic Advisor (Head of Economics). The organisation represents a diverse and complex industry and focuses on the substance of improving what and how the industry delivers for customers and the environment.

Role Overview

In this senior position, you will be a key liaison between the organisation and senior directors, government officials, and investors affiliated with the industry. Your responsibilities will encompass macroeconomics, jobs investment, growth, taxation, regulatory economics, and elements of corporate finance. Your insights will be pivotal in engaging with CFOs of FTSE 100 firms and other influential stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer expert guidance on macroeconomic trends, jobs investment, growth, and taxation policies
  • Exhibit proficiency in regulatory economics
  • Engage with CFOs and top decision-makers in the sector to evaluate financial strategies and their impact
  • Utilise your experience and exposure in regulated industries and corporate finance to drive well-informed decisions
  • Collaborate closely with senior directors and industry leaders, playing a direct role in enhancing performance and competitiveness
  • Lead and participate in projects focused on improving the industry’s overall performance
  • The drive and ambition to potentially hire and grow and team of economists underneath you

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong background in economics, with substantial experience in regulatory economics
  • Exposure to regulated industries, ideally spanning several diverse sectors
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for credible engagement with senior stakeholders
  • A proven track record of autonomy and the ability to make influential decisions
  • Previous experience a regulatory body, economic consulting firm, or government
