Competition Associate

A leading international law firm is expanding its Competition practice in London and is seeking a talented Associate to join its growing team. The firm advises a wide range of clients including multinational corporations, listed companies and rapidly scaling businesses across sectors such as financial services, technology, infrastructure, automotive and consumer markets.

With an established presence across the UK and Europe, the firm supports organisations navigating complex regulatory environments and high-stakes commercial challenges. Its competition practice is recognised for delivering pragmatic, commercially focused advice across both contentious and advisory matters, particularly in cases involving cross-border regulatory scrutiny and multi-jurisdictional issues.

Role

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a competition lawyer to work alongside experienced practitioners on a wide variety of UK and international competition matters.

The successful candidate will advise clients on both contentious and non-contentious competition law issues, including merger control processes, regulatory investigations and competition litigation. The role provides exposure to high-profile mandates, direct client interaction and the opportunity to contribute to complex matters spanning multiple jurisdictions.

Working as part of a collaborative team across London and European offices, the Associate will support clients through regulatory reviews, investigations and compliance challenges while contributing to the continued growth of the practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Advising clients on UK and EU competition law matters across both advisory and contentious work
• Supporting merger control filings and regulatory reviews across multiple jurisdictions
• Assisting with competition investigations, including cartel and antitrust matters
• Advising organisations on competition compliance frameworks and risk management
• Supporting competition litigation and regulatory appeals where required
• Contributing to the competition aspects of corporate transactions and regulatory approvals
• Providing guidance on national security and investment review considerations in transactional contexts
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across corporate, regulatory and dispute resolution teams

Key Skills

• Qualified lawyer with experience in competition or antitrust law within a law firm or similar legal environment
• Strong understanding of UK and/or EU competition law frameworks
• Experience supporting merger control processes, investigations or regulatory matters
• Familiarity with national security and investment review regimes is advantageous
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex regulatory issues
• Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with clients
• Collaborative mindset and interest in contributing to business development initiatives
• Strong academic background and a clear interest in developments in competition law
