We’re working with a national law firm that handles complex employment and civil rights cases across the United States. As part of their growing litigation support function, they’re looking for a skilled Data Analyst to join the team and support data-intensive legal work.This role sits at the intersection of law and data, helping legal teams uncover insights, assess damages, and prepare evidence that shapes outcomes in high-stakes cases. It’s ideal for someone who combines technical skill with a strong sense of purpose.
Role
In this position, you’ll apply your analytical expertise to legal case data developing tools, running analysis, and working closely with attorneys and expert witnesses. From automating data collection to preparing visuals for courtroom use, your work will help ensure legal arguments are backed by solid, accessible evidence.
You’ll be based in one of the firm’s offices (New York, San Francisco, or Washington, DC), with flexibility to work remotely part of the week.
Responsibilities
- Clean, transform, and structure raw data for legal analysis
- Build automated processes for collecting and organizing information
- Advise legal teams on data collection strategies in discovery
- Analyze large datasets to identify patterns, outliers, or key metrics
- Collaborate with expert witnesses on technical evidence
- Assist in quantifying economic damages for negotiations or litigation
- Produce clear, well-documented reports and visual summaries
- Identify opportunities to improve how data is used across cases and propose and implement data-driven solutions
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. data science, economics, statistics, engineering, or similar)
- Experience in a data analyst or related role, ideally within a professional services or project-based setting
- Strong proficiency in data analysis, with experience using SQL, Excel, or statistical tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially in presenting technical concepts to non-specialists
- Adaptable, detail-focused, and comfortable with shifting priorities
- Interest in social impact, justice, or advocacy-related work is highly valued
