Responsibilities of the Data Scientist Role
- Leading a team of talented data scientists
- Building new models or enhancing existing ones to predict user patterns and optimize their experience
- Establishing a system to monitor and evaluate model performance
- Collaborating with data engineers to operationalize the models
- Performing statistical analysis to uncover valuable insights and patterns
- Engaging with product managers and senior stakeholders to drive innovation and shape new features
- Translating business requirements into technical specifications, enabling effective collaboration across teams
Key Skills for Success as a Data Scientist
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, etc.)
- Proficiency in SQL, Python (PyData stack), and/or R
- Strong understanding of statistics and supervised learning algorithms
- Track record of building predictive models using large datasets, including experience with unsupervised machine learning models
- Knowledge of productionising models in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, etc.) is a significant advantage
