Senior Economist (microeconomics)

Chi Square Economics is working with a well-known consultancy which is looking for a Senior Economist to join its economic consulting team in New York (although location is flexible). The team tackles a wide range of questions raised by their clients, including: quantifying the regulatory implications on industries and business, workforce needs, changes in local economies, economic, environmental and social impact of major companies and industries, and estimating the value created by cultural institutions. The wider company specialises in a range of micro and macroeconomics topics, and so there is scope to operate across teams as your experience grows.

Key responsibilities:

• You will be project managing multiple research studies at one time
• Provide excellent and thorough economic analysis
• Use quantitative analytical skills to a variety of economic databases
• Manage client relationships
• Lead projects, proposals and their delivery to clients
• Manage team members through their work and professional development

About you:

To be eligible for this role, you must have: 

• 4-7 years years’ experience as an economist 
• Currently be in the US or Canada with right to work in the US
• Prior experience in a client-facing role and ability to build strong client relationships with existing and potential clients
• Excellent experience in economic analysis with a strong understanding in IO modelling, econometrics, and cost-benefit analysis
• Ability to find solutions and be economically creative with clients’ queries
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Prior experience managing a team and developing junior staff

Desirable skills for a Lead Economist:

• A post-graduate degree or PhD in Economics
• Experience managing clients and winning new clients
• Strong understanding of R and Stata
